In summer, the endless forests turn delicately green and unbelievably beautiful. The ice on the crystal clear lakes melt away, leaving the fresh cold water for you to hop in, before sprinting to the lake-side sauna. Finland offers you all the solitude in the world, ideal for hiking or canoeing.
In winter, when the country is covered in snow, we recommend a trip to Lapland, where Santa Claus allegedly has his HQ. The Sami people will take you husky- or reindeer sledding under the dancing Northern Lights before serving you a hot drink at a luxury ice-hotel. Ice fishing and cross-country skiing are other possibilities.
While you are there be sure to visit Helsinki. Influenced by Russia in the east and Sweden in the west, the capital offers interesting architecture and design. Finland is especially famous for textile and glass design.
